Project: Sign for meditation classes
Client: Buddha Gate Monastery, Lafayette, CA

Buddha Gate Monastery needed a large sign with the message “Silence – Meditation in Progress” for the entrance of the building where their meditation classes are held. To replace their clip art of a person meditating, another student created a stylized marker drawing based on a photograph of the Grand Master of the monastery. Although their custom is not to use his image on something that might eventually be discarded or replaced, the drawing is abstracted enough that it’s not a recognizable likeness. I converted it to a vector image using Illustrator and designed the type and background to coordinate with their existing color scheme and overall feeling of serenity.
